The Coatings Inspection Workshop (CIW) is a face-to-face technical event designed to strengthen the skills of professionals involved in the inspection of protective coatings. Over two days, it combines fundamentals, standards, and acceptance criteria with practical demonstrations of equipment such as thickness measurement, environmental condition assessment, surface preparation verification, discontinuity identification, and more. This applied learning experience allows participants to improve the accuracy of inspections and decision-making in the field.

GOALS

1. Explore international standards (ISO, ASTM, NACE, SSPC) in coating inspection.
2. Present modern technologies and industrial inspection equipment.
3. To train in evaluation methods and quality control in coating projects.
4. Establish networks of contacts between professionals, students and industry experts.
5. Understand the purpose of coating inspection within corrosion protection programs.
6. Identify the critical stages of surface preparation and their influence on coating performance.
7. Evaluate the environmental conditions and variables that affect the application of paint systems.
8. Use equipment correctly for measuring anchor profile, environmental conditions and film thicknesses.
9. Identify common defects, deviations, and failures during the preparation, application, and inspection of coatings.
10. Apply the knowledge acquired through demonstrations and practical exercises.
11. Strengthen the capacity to record results and make informed technical decisions in the field.
